BENJAMIN FRANKLIN HASTY, the son of ROBERT HASTY and SARAH ? was born in Rockingham, North Carolina in 1823, he came down to Alabama before the Civil War with his older brother Robert, his mother and two sisters... BENJAMIN'S wife was a Miss Edna J. Hall. Together they settled in Horse Creek Hills south of Dixon Mills. BENJAMIN reared a family of seven sons and two daughters.The sons were BENJAMIN F. II., Thomas W., William H., John W., Robert L., George W. and Aacha. The two daughters were Miss Sarah Ann (Sallie), and Miss Mary Ella... BENJAMIN F. II married Miss Martha Anne Pope, Thomas W. married Miss Tetitha Harrison, William H. married A.J Painter, John W. married Miss Mary E. Reed, Sarah Ann (Sallie) married Mr. Benjamin Franklin Tucker, Robert L. married Mss Amelia G. Allen and George W. Hasty married Miss Esther White... Aacha and Mary Ella apparently died at a young age... Robert Hasty's first wife was Nancy Surgener, she died giving birth to her first child, the child also died. His second wife was Miss Nancy Martin and to this union were born 5 sons: Robert, Lee (Dink), William, John Price, and James. They also had three daughters: Nancy, who married Calvin Downey, Margaret Ann, who married Tom Pope, and Sarah who married J. Bart Loftin. Robert's third marriage was to Sarah Ellen Etheridge, 19 years old, daughter of Nathan and Elizabeth Prudence (Buck) Etheridge.They had eight sons: Joseph LeRoy, Alonza, LaFayette, Jasper Bruce, Nathan Ludie, Samuel Gaines, Matthew M., and Elijah N. and one daughter, Elizabeth Prudence. Mr. Hasty died in 1885. Joseph LeRoy married Miss Daisy Boyles. Judge A.L. Hasty married Miss Mamie Westbrook, Jasper Bruce maried Fannie Nichols, Nathan Ludie married Mary Williams, Samuel Gaines married Phoebe Hall, Matthew M. married Willie Coats and Elijah N. married Inez Turner...

They were married on Feb. 26, 1834. Her 2nd marriage was to Mr. Edwin Crosslin b. abt. 1797 in Southampton County, Virginia d. Aug. 7, 1875 in Clark County, Arkansas. Elizabeth stated she had lived in Richmond from her birth until about year 1831, when she moved to Marengo County, Alabama. His sister and her husband had three sons, they were, Eugene, Paul and Eric Clark. Paul Clark robbed the Thomasville Bank, with Moody Drinkard. Moody was the husband of Ernestine Hasty. When his mother, Audrey Jordan, decided to become a nurse in the United States Army around 1941, she gave him away to a family in Mississippi. Apparently he disliked the situation she left him in, so one day he walked to a highway that he knew his father, Noah Otto Hasty, traveled as a truck driver and waited on his father. His father took him back to Bessemer, Alabama and gave him to his ex-wife's sister, Louise Jordan. She raised him until he joined the United States Army at the age of 16. He spent 20 years in the Army, retiring at the rank of E-9 Sergeant Major, in 1968??. He had always said, the Army was the only family he had really ever known. After his retirement he lived in Augusta, Georgia, then Atlanta, Georgia, then Douglasville, Georgia. While in the service he married Flonnie Mae Norton in 1951, and together they had four children. They are, Donald C. (Don), Kathryn L. (Kathy), Steven C.(Steve) and Debra L.(Debbie).. When his mother, Audrey Jordan, decided to become a nurse in the United States Army around 1941, she gave him away to a family in Mississippi. Apparently he disliked the situation she left him in, so one day he walked to a highway that he knew his father, Noah Otto Hasty, traveled as a truck driver and waited on his father. His father took him back to Bessemer, Alabama and gave him to his ex-wife's sister, Louise Jordan. She raised him until he joined the United States Army at the age of 16. He spent 20 years in the Army, retiring at the rank of E-9 Sergeant Major, in 1968??. He had always said, the Army was the only family he had really ever known. After his retirement he lived in Augusta, Georgia, then Atlanta, Georgia, then Douglasville, Georgia. While in the service he married Flonnie Mae Norton in 1951, and together they had four children. They are, Donald C. (Don), Kathryn L. (Kathy), Steven C.(Steve) and Debra L.(Debbie).. Donald C. married Miss Terry ____, Kathryn L. married Mr. Jay _____, Steven C. married Miss Cheryl Staebell and Debra L. married Mr. Robert Douglas Brown II... Donald C. has one daughter named, Savannah, Kathryn L. has one daughter named, Veronica, Steven C. has a daughter named, Charlenia (Charlie) and a son named, Justinn, and Debra L. has two sons named, Robert D. After retiring from the service JIMMY DONALD HASTY became a court reporter, and later became a partner with Walt Brandenburg, forming the partnership of Brandenburg and Hasty Court Reporters, After his death, the company was sold to Peggy Warren, which is still in business today under the name of, Brandenburg, Hasty and Warren Court Reporters. JIMMY DONALD HASTY died on July 4, 1973 at the age of 42, he suffered a major heart attack while at a family outing at Lake Altoona, in Kennesaw Georgia. He will never be forgotten, because he was a man who beat the odds, and became a proud soldier, a hard working devoted husband and the most wonderful father.
